The IDF spokesman stated that the heroic battle in Shejaiya yesterday, in which nine commanders and fighters were killed, took place as part of an attack on terrorist infrastructure in the "Casbah" of Shejaiya, as part of an advanced phase in the effort to purge the neighborhood of Hamas terrorists and their infrastructure. The Casbah is a dense and complex space in which it is difficult to maneuver, including in the neighborhood's substantial underground infrastructure.
It was reported that when the fighters encountered the terrorists, commanders in the field showed courage and composure, led from the front and jumped in to help and rescue wounded fighters.
At the end of the event last night, the commander of Division 36 held a situation assessment with the commanders of Golani's brigade combat team and said: "Golani is as Golani; commanders at the front - charging forward and leaving no one behind."
The northern front:
A private house in Kibbutz Bar'am was hit by an anti-tank missile launched from Lebanon. There were no casualties. In response to the launches, the IDF attacked targets in southern Lebanon.
Last night, the IDF completed a series of attacks with the help of aircraft and tanks on Syrian and Lebanese territory. Earlier on, three launches were detected from Syrian territory, all of which fell in open areas. There were no casualties.
Around 2:00 p.m. sirens were heard in Rosh Hanikra. Rockets fell in open areas, and our forces responded with artillery fire. No injuries were reported.
The West Bank:
Our forces have been carrying out an extensive operation in the Jenin refugee camp since yesterday morning. It was reported that the forces searched more than 400 buildings, hundreds of suspects were detained, and six terrorists were eliminated. In addition, six laboratories for the production of explosives were destroyed, as were several tunnels.
IDF forces also arrested four terrorists in Hebron last night. More than 40 illegal vehicles were confiscated in the village of Turmus-Aya.

Two civilians wounded in recent Hamas attacks died yesterday of their injuries. This raises the civilian fatality count in this war to 790. HYD.
First Lieutenant Nathaniel Menachem Eitan was wounded in battle in the Gaza Strip and died of his wounds at the beginning of the week. His organs were donated and saved the lives of three people.
It was reported in the media that a terrorist who was wounded in Gaza was operated on and hospitalized in an Israeli hospital. Officials at the hospital said that the terrorist is expected to be transferred to a military facility for further treatment.

Since the beginning of the war, the residents of Yokne'am have been running a "Pina Hama" (coffee corner for soldiers) on the highway near the town. Soldiers on the go are invited to stop for home-made treats served with love.
Dozens of US universities held Hanukkah candle-lighting events last night under the headline "Lighting Their Way Home". This is to express solidarity with the people of Israel who are at war and with the families of the hostages.
